Geomechanical Testing

The institute is equipped with modern field and laboratory equipment for geomechanical testing necessary to perform tasks within the scope of the accredited Geomechanics Laboratory.
The Geomechanics Laboratory is equipped for the following sample and material tests:

• Complete classification characteristics.
• Resistant properties (in direct, rotational, and triaxial conditions) and deformable properties (in edometric and triaxial conditions).
• Compaction and bearing tests (Proctor and CBR).
• Stabilization of natural and artificial materials for stabilization, in the road body and pavement construction layers.
• Testing of geosynthetic and other materials for construction purposes,
• Testing material properties under dynamic conditions (Resilient modulus, E modulus, ITS, and compressive strength).
All these tests are performed according to standards or specific requirements.

In-situ tests

• Static cone penetrometer with friction cone; Gouda Dutch, type 200 kN – TR (soil resistance – CKD),
• The Louis Menard pressuremeter, type GA with appropriate equipment (horizontal deformations by drilling depth)
• The inclinometer equipment BI-AXIAL INCLINOMETER MARK IV DUAL DISPLAY READOUT, manufactured by SOIL INSTRUMENTS LIMITED, LONDON (measuring depth, velocity, intensity, and degree of movement of landslide bodies).
• TROXLER 3440; North Carolina 27709 U.S.A. (nuclear density gauge and moisture content) • DCP – dynamic cone penetrometer, for processing CBR on the field,
• Light dynamic device with falling weight (EV din),
• Hydraulic presses up to 200 KN, for testing static modulus of deformations (Ev1, Ev2, Ms and K - soil reaction coefficient)"
