The Highway and Bridges Institute was established by a decree of the Government of the People's Republic of Serbia in 1950, with the task of scientifically studying and proposing solutions for the construction, maintenance, and repair of roads and bridges in the People's Republic of Serbia.

The Department of Construction Materials professionally conducts laboratory and field testing of construction materials within accredited laboratories.
CERTIFICATION BODY
The Highway Institute acts as a body for assessing and verifying the performance of construction products for concrete and asphalt.
