Testing of Asphalt, Hydrocarbon Binders, and Waterproofing

The Laboratory for Asphalt, Hydrocarbon Binders, and Waterproofing has been accredited since 2001. The main activities of the laboratory include:

• Preliminary and control testing of rheological and chemical characteristics of hydrocarbon binders (bitumen, polymer-bitumen, bitumen emulsions), bitumen strips for waterproofing bridge structures and road facilities.

• Preliminary and control testing of component materials and characteristics of asphalt mixtures such as asphalt concrete, bitumenized aggregate, stone mastic asphalt, mastic asphalt, surface treatments, micro-asphalt, and recycled asphalt by cold and hot processes.

The activities of the Laboratory for Asphalt, Hydrocarbon Binders, and Waterproofing

  • Testing of component materials of asphalt (binders, emulsions, stone dust, stone material fractions, etc.), as well as finished products of all types of asphalt and waterproofing materials.
  • Preparation of preliminary compositions and control testing of asphalt mixtures.
  • Testing of the physical-mechanical characteristics of asphalt mixtures.
  • Dynamic testing of asphalt mixtures.
  • Performing quality control tests during the production and installation of asphalt mixtures.
  • Quality control testing of completed waterproofing works.
  • Designing asphalt mixtures for special structures, airports, heliports, military facilities, bridges, tunnels, and hydraulic structures.
  • Research in the field of technological processes for preparing and installing hot and cold asphalt.
  • Introduction and application of new testing methods.
  • Preparation of proposals for technical regulations and standards in the field of flexible pavements, bitumen binders, and waterproofing.
